THE PROBLEM

The client was an airport worker who was dismissed while pregnant. She was not a trade union member and had no access to any other source of support. She contacted us for advice and assistance.

WHAT WE DID

We advised her that she had a case for pregnancy/maternity discrimination under the Equality Act 2010 and unfair dismissal under the Employment Rights Act 1996. We submitted a claim on her behalf to the Employment Tribunal. We supported her with her case through the Tribunal process and in settlement negotiations with her employer and ACAS.

THE RESULTS

We were successful in securing a compromise settlement of £11,500 from the Respondent for pregnancy/maternity discrimination and unfair dismissal.
