General Equality & Diversity
Improving Equality & Diversity in your Organisation (for third sector CEO’s) (PDF)
This guide for chief executives on improving diversity is both timely and genuinely needed in order to mainstream diversity action within third sector organisations. The Coalition Government has brought the new Equality Act into force in 2010; this requires organisations to rethink and strengthen their work in equality and diversity.
Voluntary Sector Equality Handbook (PDF)
This toolkit was originally commissioned by the Cheshire and Warrington Change Up Consortium (CUCW) in order to assist the voluntary and community sector in dealing with equality and diversity issues. It was developed by Cheshire Halton & Warrington Race & Equality Centre working in partnership with the Lesbian and Gay Foundation and the Disability Information Bureau, all of whom are members of the Consortium. It has since then been revised in February 2013 for our involvement on TLI Partnerships.

The School Report: The experiences of gay young people in Britain’s schools in 2012 by Stonewall (External Link)
This has shown some improvement in the level of homophobic bullying in schools, in particular in ‘faith’ schools. However the report, entitled , has found that the issue remains widespread.

Working with Diverse Communities
Hidden Power-The new Challenge 2002 (PDF)
Cheshire Community Action and partners conducted the original Hidden Power report which explored the nature of the voluntary, community and faith sector including social enterprises (collectively referred to as the VCS) in Cheshire. Between May and September 2010, Cheshire Community Action conducted an online survey of the VCS in Cheshire and Warrington. This report presents the findings of that survey.
