The Bridging the Gap project is funded by Cheshire West and Chester Council and aims to address health inequalities by promoting better health for BAME people, through providing one to one support to those who struggle accessing healthcare across Cheshire West area. The project also works with healthcare providers to help them understand barriers faced by service users.
We offer one to one support for anyone from a BAME community, including asylum seekers and refugees. We currently offer a drop in at the weekly asylum hub at the Unity Centre as well as Trinity Methodist Church in Ellesmere Port. Types of support offered include: help to register with a GP, helping to make an appointments with physiotherapy, GP, bloods and finding an emergency dentist. We also refer service users to other organisations depending on their needs, e.g. CAB, Refugee Assist for clothes, Café 71 and Flynn's port in the storm for mental health support.
